The toe is clean and gently almond, the vamp seamless, and the shaft rises just above the ankle so it sits under a trouser hem without bulk. What makes it work is the balance of the two panels: the polished vegan leather quarters and, set into the side, a ribbed elastic gusset that runs the height of the shaft. That's a play on texture as much as anything matte ribbing
