I am not entirely certain of the wood

For me it is the tiny figure in white shirt and black cap perched on a rock at nearish right that really makes it (aided by the sweet little tree due left of him)

Aptly Eroded INFORMATION Sign dovetailed box 13 1/4” l x 14Ive gotten so that I am somewhat less interested in great old signs for their own sake (though I am still!) than I am in what signs signify, specifically when that signification is not what was originally intended, but rather the product of age and wear and or recontextualization.
