Mary's Antique Pewter Snuff Box 1960s Bennington potters The backingWhat sold me on this 19th century snuff box is the juxtaposition between the fineness of its decoration and the clearly hand scratched "Mary." I thought it likely that Mary did this herself, but on the underside of the box in what appears to be the same hand one can just make out "To Mummy"! The box itself shows wear including some bending to the sides and bottom, but I think is quite lovely still ideally destined for another Mary, though my house at
