Description
I am not certain the age of this piece but know it has been held in a folk art collection for at least the past 25 years
There are holes at the feet which could be used for mounting it somewhere if desired
Another wonderfully sculptural very old iron finial from a group of them found this week
including around the edges of the bottom black-painted wood piece
clearly the watercolors portray proposed costumes for members of the Brown family in a play--though what play I am not sure
As a Remembrance: Mid 19th Century Forget Me Not, Foil and Paper Flowers Under Glass tall thin box I am not certain theI found a forget me not token of love friendship along the lines of this one earlier this year, and have kept a keen eye since as I think they're very charming and not easy to find! Happily, at an estate sale this past weekend I snatched up a handful, which very well might all of have been made by the same person, most likely a young woman, 150+ years ago or so. Gold foil and paper flowers arranged carefully under glass, with reverse painting in red
