Iowa in the 1920s
with the earlier baccalarius altered by wordplay to baccalaureate in order to conform with bacca lauri--laurel berry--because of the laurels awarded to scholars
I didn't know anything about Kaffee Worpswede when I found this
filled with drawings of people and houses and animals and ships and all sorts of other little things
the paper cutouts are a bit off center
Folk Art Bust of Man in Suit with Inset Green Eyes , Plaster Over Wood with Polychrome menthol Iowa in the 1920sNot sure who this green eyed, goateed guy is meant to be, but he sure feels like a very specific person and a sharp dresser at that! He's got good age, and was quite painstakingly crafted, with a solid wood structure, layers of plaster over top to sculpt his features, and then polychrome on top of that. With inset buttons or bits of matte green glass for the eyes. Feels like a hustler salesman deal maker to me, and this very apt for the moment! 8" t x
