The Beehive Moneycomb, Punny (and Metaphorical Feeling) c. 1940s Still Bank brass calendar with one flat nick toPretty clever, and a pretty excellent object I think; I find it hard to resist a beehive shaped anything, and all the better with a big bee cast on the front! At the same time, with its golden brass finish, and "MONEYCOMB" in capital italics, I can't help but think of it as a metaphor for plutocracy! Ah, I will try to relinquish this lens through which I seem to be regarding everything at the moment. but our material culture is so rife with metaphors!
