and also the blackness of the painted letters themselves

though I’d be wary of putting much weight on it

and based on how it was trimmed I'm sure it once lived in a miniature type frame with round opening

Antique Cut and Folded Paper Star unusual fans I assume made by aAnother small antique cut paper creation, which would make a lovely companion to the heart just listed, but nice on its own like a snowflake as well as a study in geometry! All cut from one piece of paper, folded at every other cut to form diamonds within the larger diamond (or an eight pointed star.) 3" x 3 1 16" and in very good condition, with minor toning. 19th c. I believe.
