Description
making me think as much of folk art carved miniature books and bibles than as anything (including for the fact that the slab at his back is carved like a book as well) but I’m really not sure of its origins
I'm guessing 1920s or 30s
and clearly they put in a lot of effort
stable with a nice patina
I really love an old hand-cut stencil
Old Jointed Folk Art Dancing Monkey vase with animals making me think as muchA curious old jointed monkey, with graphite drawn face and details, and a hole for a dowel at the center of its back, via which it would and could be held aloft and set to dancing. Happily, it is limber at its joints, so easy to position sitting upright, or leaning back on its elbows, or doing a split! Nice age to it, earlyish 20th century I believe, all original with a nice dry wood patina. 10 1 2" t x 4 1 2" widest and in good condition.
