Description
a woman carrying a basket on her head
Just a sweet little brush with a great patina
) As is the gilded frame is I think a good and traditional fit for it and I'd just leave it alone
then spread to other parts of Asia
The postcard back is not printed but rather completely hand done
Max Ulrich "Uli" Schoop Terracotta Bust of Young Woman hand-painted wooden plate a woman carrying a basketMax Ulrich (Uli) Schoop (1903 1990) was a German born sculptor, painter, printmaker, who lived and worked in Paris (1928 1940) then Zurich, Switzerland, where he was a professor of art at the University of Zurich from 1953 1973. This wonderful small bust is signed but undated, but based on other works I believe likely dates to the 1940s. Finely sculpted and beautiful from every view, I find her quite a thoughtful, curious and gentle seeming presence!
