Instituted 1944 by General Francisco Franco. 1944 present issue. An enameled white Maltese Cross with ball finials in silver gilt, featuring a split inscription S RAYMUNDUS PENNAFORTI (St. Raymond of Peafort) on the 12 oclock and 6 oclock arms respectively, presenting ornamented laces in a figure 8 pattern in each quadrant with a vertical sword suspension piercing the knee of the 12 oclock and 6 oclock
