The beads are glass and probably from China

Strand of Yellow with Black Stripes Eja (Aja) Beads african stone Mixture of very rare pre-1900sA gorgeous strand of "antique yellow" with black stripes Eja (or Aja) beads, featuring some very rare designs. Eja beads are altered (heated up and then squashed flat) Venetian beads from the mid late 1800s that were primarily traded in Nigeria. Sizes range from the small 3mm x 8mm to the large 11mm x 3mm. While most of the beads are in excellent shape, the ones at the top of the strand do show a lot of wear and tear, and are older beads.
