In 1978 1979, he saw a small 10x10 booth with a couple guys sitting there with these boards (turns out it was Jake Burton). He bought one. He was a skier and tried it out a couple times (its not as easy as it looks and the ski area owner said "hey you can't ride that on the lift). He
