It is definitely vintage

4 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter

I really might instead turn it upside down and build an alter around this one

Carved Wooden Foot Shaped Ashtray with Copper Insert handmade doll made in England for AbercrombieI've found some other carved wooden feet like this one that served as ashtrays, but I haven't found one with a removable copper ashtray fitted and set on top. I think it is possible that the insert was custom made at a later date for this particular foot, which I found at an estate sale in Acton, MA in a house filled to the brim with a lifetime's accumulation with all sorts of wonderful things! I'd guess the foot itself is Southeast Asian in origin
